Location : Delhi – Lucknow-  Sravasti – Lumbini – Kushinagar – Vaishali – Patna – Rajgir – Nalanda – Bodhgaya – Varanasi.

Our Buddhist tour is a soulful sojourn covering all the prominent sites of Buddhist importance in a single journey. Spread over a week, this Buddhist pilgrimage tour covers sites like Sravasti, Lumbini, Kushinagar, Vaishali, Bodhgaya & Varanasi, an intricately handcrafted itinerary to enable you to explore the many facets of Buddhism.

Your journey begins in Lucknow and Sravasti, both reminiscent of the lord’s knowledgeable teachings. Further, we will take you to the sites associated with Lord Buddha’s birth in Nepal. Specifically, the Mayadevi temple in Lumbini and Kushinagar, where lord Buddha attained Mahaparinirvana.

On your return to India, you will explore the sites where lord Buddha spent maximum of his monsoon retreats, the ancient city of Vaishali where lord Buddha presented his last sermon, Buddha Memorial Park in Patna, peace pagoda in Rajgir & Bodhgaya, where lord Buddha attained enlightenment.

  1. Day 1 Arrive Delhi

    Arrival in Delhi, meeting and assistance upon arrival with traditional welcome as representatives from Minar Travels welcome you and escort you to your car. As the room keys and check in are organized, our executive would introduce the tour to you and hand over the documents to you.

  2. Day 2 Delhi – Lucknow (By early morning Train) Lucknow-Sravasti (140 Km / 4 hours)

    Transfer to the railway station to catch Shatabdi Express in the morning. Packed breakfast will be served on the train.

    On arrival at Lucknow railway station, meeting assistance and direct drive to Sravasti

    Explore the Sahet and Mahet. Back in past, this used to be a proactive Buddhist hub and also the capital city for Kosala Kingdom. Another place of interest to visit is Jetvana Vihara, where Buddha took refuge for almost twenty-four years. This place boasts of ancient stupas, popular Anand Bodhi trees, quaint monasteries as well as many temples.

  3. Day 3 Sravasti - Kapilvastu - Lumbini (225 Km / 6 hours)

    Morning drive for Lumbini. After completing the immigration formalities at India-Nepal border (please carry 2 passport size photos for Nepal visa on arrival). Later continue to Lumbini en-route visiting Kapilvastu an ancient city and earlier it was the capital of Shakya. It was the childhood home of Gautama Buddha.

    Afternoon visit Maya Devi Temple, dedicated to Buddha’s mother. The temple, constructed in 2 nd century B.C, near a river, where Maya Devi took her bath. The other prominent attraction is the Asoka Pillar that got established in 250 B.C constructed by Asoka.

  4. Day 4 4 Lumbini - Kushinagar (180 km / 5 hours)

    Morning depart Lumbini for Kushinagar against crossing Nepal-India border (Please en-sure Indian Visa with multiple entry) after completing the immigration formalities, continue drive to Kushinagar, where Lord Buddha attained Mahaparinirvana i.e. “departing the earth”. Visit Mahaparinirvana temple and Rambhar Stupa, the cremation ground of Buddha.

  5. Day 5 Kushinahar - Vaishali - Patna (290 km / 8 hours)

    Morning drive to Patna en-route visit Vaishali, which was frequently visited by Buddha during his lifetime. Also visit Kolhua, comprises a large, hemispherical brick stupa guarded by a lion squatting atop a 2300-year- old Ashoka pillar.

    Later continue drive to Patna and on arrival check-in at hotel

  6. Day 6 Patna–Nalanda-Rajgir-Bodh Gaya (156 Km / 4 hours)

    Morning leave for Bodhgaya en route Rajgir and Nalanda. Nalanda was a hub for Buddhism and also being established in 5th century it is the oldest university of world.

    After visiting Nalanda ruins, you will move to Rajgir. Rajgir was the capital city of the famous Magadh kingdom that was ruled by King Bimbisara. You will visit Vishwa Shanti Stupa which is an elite and elegantm arble construction carrying impressive golden Buddha images and was constructed by esteemed Nipponza Myohoji sect of Japan.

    Later, drive to Griddhakuta, that is, an unusual rock projection that has resemblance to the beak of a vulture. Inside these rocky caves, Gautama Buddha spent several rainy seasons preaching, as well as, meditating. Venuvana Vihara, is a sacred monastery site that got constructed by king Bimbisara for Gautama Buddha to stay.

  7. Day 7 Bodh Gaya

    Morning visit Mahabodhi Temple constructed by Asoka back in 3rd century B.C., the place where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment under a pious Bodhi Tree.

    Later visit to Sujata village and Niranjana river Rest of the day at leisure

  8. Day 8 Bodh Gaya - Varanasi (250 kms / 6 hours)

    Morning drive to Varanasi and on arrival check-in at hotel

    Late afternoon, visit the local market and witness evening arti at the Ganges holy river.

  9. Day 9 Varanasi - Delhi (By Flight)

    Early morning, boat ride at the holy river “The Ganges”.

    Later visit Durga Temple, Bharat Mata Temple and Banaras Hindu University.

    Early noon, visit Sarnath, at this place Lord Buddha gave his first sermon after he attained enlightenment. Also explore Chaukhandi Stupa, Dhamek Stupa, Tibetan Temple, Ashoka Pillar and Archeological Museum.

    Later direct transfer to the Varanasi airport to board a flight for your onward journey from the airport of Delhi.
