On day one you arrive at Colombo and indulge in a city tour. Colombo is the capital of Sri Lanka and a famous sea-port. This land is a unique blend of western and eastern culture, old and new ways of lifestyle. The city is new age with imprints of a European colonial history. There are quaint Muslim Mosques, Hindu Temples, Buddhist Temples as well as noisy bazaars that create a contrasting ambiance. These apart, there are post multi-national hotel chains and lavish Shopping Malls as well.
As you tour this city, you explore the Dutch period and Colombo National Museums, Dehiwala Zoo, both new and old parliament houses, Town Hall, Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall and the famous Gangarama Buddhist Temple. Other than attractive shopping choices, Colombo offers you a chance to visit one of the world’s best tea auctions, occasional Buddhist and Hindu pageants, an 18 hole Golf Course, enjoyable evening entertainment, plush casinos, posh restaurants and the international cricket tournaments. Here you will have access to advanced cyber and state-of-the-art communications services in hotels and other channels. You stay the night at Colombo.
Post your breakfast you start for Dambulla and visit Elephant Orphanage on the way at Pinnawala. This orphanage was constructed in 1975 and started by providing shelter to 7 orphans and today is a home to several injured elephants that are taken care of with great affection, love and warmth. These elephants are bathed regularly in a nearby river by the staff. The main motto of setting up this orphanage is to promote travel and tourism, but in recent times have become an educational and conservation center. With the support of the foreign and local elephant experts, today Pinnawala also commenced scientific captive-breeding initiative for the elephants. You check in at your hotel on reaching Sigriya and stay overnight.
You can climb the Sigriya Rock along with its invincible palace fortress that was established in 5th century. You can get stunning views once you are over the regal pool and throne and the historical remains of this grand palace, gardens and walk-ways. On your way you stop over at Dambulla Cave Temple. Similar to Sigriya, even Dambulla is a huge secluded rock that has a famous rock temple. Here you will find few frescoes that are about 14 meters long. Towards the evening opt in for a safari on an elephant’s back. Stay overnight here.
On your way to Kandy from Sigriya, you take a visit to the Matale spice gardens on the way. This garden is very attractive and would entice you to take a casual walk around its stunning greenery and learn about clove trees and curry, nutmeg, cinnamon, pepper vines and even cardamom. Open to public for visits it also allows travellers and visitors to purchase conventional remedies, spices as well as cosmetics. Take a city tour to Kandy. Being the hill capital of Sri Lanka, this is striking piece of island. Geographically, it is 488 meters atop sea level and is one of the most coveted tourist destinations. The main attraction here is DaladaMaligawa Temple, with a golden where Buddha’s “holy tooth” has been enshrined. Other than that, Kandy is also known for excellent shopping options, wood souvenirs and also souvenirs in bronze, brass, silver, ebony and copper. Here you can also have access to weed-ware, lacquer work, batiks, ceramics and handlooms. Towards the evening watch cultural performances by expert traditional Kandyan drummers and dancers. You stay for the night in Kandy.
You will be picked up from Nanu Oya station to head towards Nuwara Eliya that you can explore today. This place is also called the “Little England” and “City of Lights”. Nuwara Eliya has remained a most coveted hill station for the British who attempted to establish this place into a traditional English Village. Elements like a country house alike hill club and ancient brick Post Office, that carries its mounted hunting trophies, hunting images, formal dinner dresses, race course and a 18 hole golf course – all are reminiscent of England. Nuwara Eliya has a great and decent climate and provides scenic view of the greenery, meadows, valleys and mountains. It’s hard to believe that this city is located at a distance of 180 km from the humid and dry Colombo climate. Few areas in and around Nuwara Eliya offers the principal surplus of tea in Sri Lanka. Any trip to the Sri Lankan highlands is incomplete without gazing at conventional tea plucking and then sipping in Ceylon Tea. These apart, when in Nuwara Eliya you can also savour strawberries that are plucked fresh and also buy fresh vegetables and fruits. Take a tour of the tea plantations and factory. Other than this, Nuwara Eliya allows scopes for several activities like boating, horse riding, golfing, hiking and soaking in the beauty of the waterfalls, plateaus and stunning gardens. You stay overnight at Nuwara Eliya.
This is the garden when Sita was exiled after being captured by Ravana. According to lore, it is here Sita and Hanuman met who brought Rama’s news to her. You stay here the night.
On this day you have the chance to explore Kitugala, where the movie “Bridge over the River Kwai” was screened. This apart, you also get to have a glimpse of St. Clair’s and Devon waterfalls on your way. On arrival you stay in Yala overnight.
On this day you get to visit Yala National Park and then move on to Hikkaduwa and stay overnight.
Today is your leisure time at Yala. You spend this day the way you want to and then stay overnight at Hikkaduwa.
After you complete your breakfast in hotel you start for airport to board the flight for your onward destination.
Our trip to South India was fabulous. The beautiful temples and serene beaches were enchanting. We will never be able to forget such a warm welcome from your company. I want to thank the company "Minar travel" for the great organized tour of the Golden Triangle! All hotels on the tour were great, transportation is very convenient and comfortable! The organization of the tour was at the highest level, starting with a meeting at the airport and checking into the hotel and ending with the landing on the flight to Goa at the end of the tour. We had a very nice trip and we enjoyed of what the company arranged for us. The sightseeining of city and shopping all Minar guiders were kind and warm & sympathies like most Indian people that are met during last week. The driver that took us to Agra and Delhi also had Very patience. We are thankful of every thing. We were going to miss India and hope to come back again. I want to thank you for arranging our norooz tour on the behalf of all group. We had a very good start at the airport, our hotel on Cochin was very good and had beautiful garden & nice pool. We enjoyed the city tour & water fall and loved folk dance. Our driver and his aid & our tour leader were very helpful & nice people. I believe Zuri hotel is the best hotel that we visited in this trip and also house boat tour was really good. Leela hotel was realy the high end hotel in kerala with nice view and pool and the room also was excellent with arabian see view . We all realy enjoy our visit elephant camp& jungle. Again we end our trip to india with great memories!
