Prostate laser surgery is a surgical procedure used to remove the prostate gland. It is also known as laser prostatectomy. During laser prostatectomy procedure, the prostate gland is completely removed along with the nearby lymph nodes.

This procedure is mostly conducted in case of prostate cancer. Prostate cancer treatment is of different types, but prostatectomy is the most common form of cancer. This treatment is often combines with chemotherapy, radiation therapy and hormonal therapy in case of patients suffering from advances prostate cancer.

Laser prostatectomy is conducted with the help of laser. During laser prostatectomy surgery, the surgeon inserts a scope through the tip of the penis to reach the ureters. Then laser is passed through the scope, which irradiated the extra prostate tissues and burns it away.
