Hair transplant is a surgical procedure that follows either of the two methods of transplantation, follicular unit extraction (FUE) or follicular unit strip surgery (FUSS). In the FUE hair transplant procedure, the doctor shaves off the back of the scalp and tries to remove hair follicles from that particular region. Gradually, hair growth covers the bald area, thus giving you head that is full of hair.

FUSS hair transplant procedure, on the other hand, focuses on removing 6 to 10-inch strip of skin from back of the scalp region, once the head is shaved. The taken skin is harvested with 500 to 2000 units of grafts of hair and planted to the scalp.

Hair transplant recovery time vary from patient to patient, but it typically takes about 2 to 5 days. Only after this period the patient is able to return to work. Post surgery, the scalp is tender, so pain medications must be taken by the patient, amongst other precautions. Hair transplant cost depends on the country that you are getting treated in. The cost of hair transplant is typically more in Western countries that the developing countries such as India.
