Cabrol procedure is regarded less invasive and much safer than open heart surgery. The Cabrol surgical procedure comprises of an ascending aortic replacement into an interposition graft that is anatomised laterally to the Aortic Graft.
The objective is to treat thoratic aortic aneurysms. Cabrol procedure should not be mixed with Bentall procedure, since the former requires repairing at the site of the aneurysm, while the latter involve replacement of composite graft of the aortic root, ascending coronary arteries and aortic valve into the graft.
Whether Cabrol procedure is required or not for a patient depends upon whether the patient has severe aneurysm, whether the patient’s body will be able to tolerate the open-heart surgery procedure and if the aneurysm solves by itself and does not grow further.
