Ovarian cancer affects the female ovaries, the part of the reproductive system that produces eggs. The cancer cells, in this case, originate in the lining of the ovaries. There are no special ovarian cancer signs and symptoms, but it may produce specific symptoms only when it travels to other nearly tissues and organs, including the pelvis and the stomach.

Last stage ovarian cancer is extremely difficult to treat. Ovarian cancer treatment options include chemotherapy and surgery. For the cancer cases that has spread extensively, a surgery is performed. During ovarian cancer surgery, both the ovaries are removed along with the Fallopian tubes and the uterus. In addition, some abdominal tissues and the nearby lymph nodes may also be removed.

Recovery after ovarian cancer surgery takes a few weeks. The patients is typically required to stay in the hospital for at least a week after the surgery.
